Types of Therapy
I am trained in and use a wide range of therapies. I do not follow a rigid, manualised treatment program or a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I take a more bespoke and eclectic approach, tailoring therapy to suit the individual client and their unique needs.
The core therapies I use include:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
Compassion focused therapy
Schema Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Brief Solution Focused Therapy
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Group Program
In addition to private consultations, I also offer a group-based mindfulness program. This may be well suited to those seeking stress reduction, improved sleep, better mental and physical health, and greater overall wellbeing. There is a strong body of research showing that MBCT can significantly reduce symptoms and episodes of anxiety and depression.
The MBCT Group Program is open to both new and existing patients, as well as anyone interested in learning mindfulness.
The eight-week program runs several times a year, with a maximum of twelve participants per group. It is not group therapy. Rather, it is an experiential learning program designed to give participants practical experience and a deep understanding of both formal mindfulness (such as meditation) and informal mindfulness (bringing awareness into everyday life).
What can you expect from the program?
Participants have described the course as a “mindfulness boot camp.” It is intensive, and it is important that participants are in a reasonably stable place before beginning. The program involves weekly two-hour group sessions, along with around one hour of daily home practice (spread throughout the day). This includes meditation exercises and mindfulness activities.
Participants complete the program with a comprehensive booklet covering the eight sessions, as well as access to an app containing all guided meditations. They will leave with a strong foundation in mindfulness and practical tools to integrate it into their everyday lives.
